We are told that from September they are going to introduce E10 fuel in order to save the "planet". Well, this has got me not only confused but also bemused. What do I do? I have had my Morgan since new and used to get 30 MPG with 4* costing 40 pence per litre since the introduction of E5 petrol this has reduced to 26 MPG, I run the car on Shell V Power currently costing £1.46 per litre. So my dilemma is what do I do? change the fuel tank and fuel lines, I am in the process of replacing the original carburettor with one from Webcon, how does one protect the jets and float chamber from the ravages of 10% ethanol as we all know it is hygroscopic and can also damage aluminium if left in over winter, do I leave the fuel tank full or drain it? I am sure this is a problem that is going to affect a significant amount of Morgan owners and indeed other classic car owners with carburettors. I know GOMOG have an article on E10 Petrol. I would welcome any suggestions and advice my car is a 1983 CVH Morgan4/4.----Swordfish

It is most likely that the E10 will only be introduced on the 95 Octane "Eurosuper" grade , the V-Power (or equivalent other brands) will remain as E5. If you continue to use this grade you will minimise problems.
I am no expert on the CVH engine, but the generally perceived wisdom seems to be the engine will cope fine with E5 and E10 , for Morgans it is the carb, fuel tank, lines , and pump that could possibly be more affected.
I think there are various brands of "pacifiers" available which will limit the solvency of ethanol (and other non-hydrocarbon fuel constituents) which are used in vehicles which are laid up over long periods. George mentions one of them above.
I think the general advice is not to panic and change the fuel delivery system just yet.

But at least this one is in the correct section of the forum! Fair point, we'll carry on here then. I've always used Valvemaster lead replacement additive in my Kent engine, which used to be branded Castrol but is now known as Classic. There is a "Plus" version which until a few years ago gave an octane boost of 2 RON but now it claims ethanol protection instead. I've no idea how much good it does but it's never done any harm. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/07/23/Valvemaster.png)

I've pondering this one for a few months and can never get a definitive answer on whether E10 will mess up my 95 rover V8. The government says all cars after 96 should be OK, however can't see that any differences where introduced until 2000.
Bought a bottle of the classic valve master only to read the small print on the back " Do not use in cars fitted with catalytic converters" can anyone suggest alternatives?l
I've started to trawl the landrover sites to see if anything is suggested.

Belle a 2014 Roadster has run really well after a tank of Esso Super with no ethanol. I think I will swallow the cost for now .

That's the beauty of a 3.7 Roadster. There is so much spare power available simply by exploring the upper rev ranges that any old petrol seems to work. My current favourite based on price alone (and as a Yorkshireman ) is Asda E10 unleaded.
