One of my Son's mates came to see us in his new Ferrari 488B. He has been very clever at building his company and made a great deal in selling part of his business. His present to himself includes this lovely car. I did not drive it but sat inside while he revved it up, it makes a glorious noise which is nicely muted in the cabin enabling normal conversation. It is also beautifully finished, roomy and the overall style is breathtaking.

Off to test drive the Portofino M on Wednesday for the daftest possible reason namely that we would be able to get the dog into it! blush Would I like a 488 or the F8 which is the current model? Sure they are pretty and these days they are well built. But what use is that level of performance in real life?

My current car is a 360 Spider which in its day (2004) fulfilled the same role as the 488. The 488 is just 3 generations further on in 15 years and in that time its gone from 400bhp to 660 bhp.. Manual gearbox to DCT only. NA to turbo. Incidentally the 488 is old hat - replaced by the F8 which is just now being replaced by the new V6 hybrid car.

I find myself thinking "whats the point" any more.

That is a lovely car. If money and garage space permitted, then something like that or the Mclaren equivalent would be parked next to our Morgan. As would a number of other, much older, cars.

What a fantastic car. There’s nothing quite like a red Ferrari.

Very nice Kevin,

I was out giving the old Mini a shakedown run only yesterday & parked with lots of free spaces to grab a coffee, came back and this gorgeous Fezza had chosen to park alongside

I think it's an 812 Superfast ??

Smart and understated in the classic grey Jon. The E suffix reminds me of OGC 28E, my Sunbeam Imp Sport which pulled 105 mph once in top at 7,100 rpm. Funny how daft facts like that stick in your mind from 50 years ago.

That Ferrari is very nice but I love the Mini, just the right stance.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
