Gordon, that's more like the responses I received when clearing out all my boaty bits. I think Howard must live in an extremely expensive area.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

Cleared out a flat in London a few years ago…. We had planned to take it all to the recycle centre. But I suggested to just put it all out on the pavement and see what happened. We emptied the entire flat and everything…. Literally everything walked itself off the pavement to new homes. Old pots and pans, bedding , beds, , bags of clothes and curtains. By the end of day day we had the few things we wanted to keep and 2 black bags of genuine rubbish which we stopped people taking away.
Saved the cost and faf of van rental, house clearance guys etc… my other half was totally surprised it all went.

At a previous house, I put some sun damaged old white plastic garden furniture out at the bottom of our drive for the bin men. It went long before they came. Next thing to go was an old non working Hoover. But what really surprised me is that every time I put a large bin bag of grass clippings, they also went before the bin men. Someone with a rabbit farm? I did wonder why our local authority went to the expense of hiring bin men at all. Gordon, that's more like the responses I received when clearing out all my boaty bits. I think Howard must live in an extremely expensive area. I live in S Wales. You could buy the whole country for the cost of a London Semi!

Initial reaction was pleasure at their generosity. Then I got to wondering. Am I so out of date that what I think is a sensible price is silly low? Is a £20 note now just loose change when I see it as serious money? Am I in a 1950s time warp value wise. Could well be since I was staggered to read that it is possible, never mind sensible, to pay JLR £200k for a new Range Rover! They ought to be £30k!
Am I completely out of touch.
Those Range Rovers can be over-priced because these days the customers only lease half the value of the vehicle and then hand it back at the end of the lease term; they are only concerned about the affordability of the monthly rentals, but the finance deals have only served to inflate the price of the cars.
