Any cigar smokers here ?

A chap did me a solid and I want to get him something. I know he smokes cigars but I know nothing about them and I obviously cant ask him!

Does anybody know of a good quality smoke. I know they vary a LOT in price but maybe a pack of five or ten of a quality brand ?
I guess id be spending 100 quid ish. Am I in the right area ?

I dont need to know about the taste, smell or the aroma of chipped wood, smoked over a fish from a loch in Scotland with undertones of gooseberry wine etc etc. Non of that palaver :-) Just , is it good reputable brand :-)

I only smoke Cuban cigars widely regarded as the best. You are right they vary a lot in price due to size and quality. Montecristo no4 (Che's cigar) is a good all rounder, Trinidad Reyes another excellent cigar but more expensive. You could go the Cohiba route but they are very expensive. HTH

There are several Cuban samplers/gift sets here to match your budget:

I would recommend Hoyo de Monterrey (Habana Cuba) epicure no 2.
Smooth as you like without any odd required taste. About the right size too. (Robusto) Really nice with a great label.

I used to work in the cigar business. High volume stuff like Hamlet but I did make one brand of 100% Cuban tobacco. I still have the last one made ( by myself) when we discontinued the brand. Our buyer met Castro several times. A VERY canny man only allowing the lesser grades of tobacco out to non Cubans. He kept the best for his home produced cigars.
The advice above is the way to go. If you know which cigars he likes then go that route.
An added taster for him......give him a bottle of Benedictine. He can dip the mouth end of a cigar in it to give a taste variation.
One cigar brand I made had sweetener added to the mouth end to give a slight sweet taste.
The Philippines is a big cigar producer too. We did a deal with one company there to make some for us. Flavoured cigars. It was fun coordinating things with them due to the time zone difference!

I used to smoke cigars a fair amount - and still keep a humidor at home with around 20 decent cigars in.

I always found that a lot of Cuban cigars, Cohiba in particular, to be be very tightly rolled. It meant you had to suck like a jet engine! The nicest cigars have been Partagas - this one: https://www.havanahouse.co.uk/product/partagas-series-p-no-2-cigar-single or some of the Dominican Republic cigars which are quite mild - these are a favourite: https://www.tobaccoonline.co.uk/Mul...ffins-No-300-Cigars-made-of-25-24224.asp
