To come back to the old air-cooled Porsches. I still have two of them, the tangerine is as good as sold. A beautiful car, inside and out with a complete engine overhaul, new pistons and cylinders, K-Letronic (first car type in the world with K-Jetronik). It has cost a bit of investment but it has paid off. I always thought (since 2014) it was "my" car. But to be honest, as nice as I find it, it's a T with 140 hp on a good 1K kg and a cruiser that makes me miss some dynamics. The future is uncertain and contradictory. But it's better that it finally goes. Despite its beauty, it wasn't really "my" car.

I bought this 1975 911S in 2013 for 18,000€ in CA including shipping and customs. Rust-free, accident-free, one owner in the last 30 years till 2013.

It was offered for sale in 2015 and 2017. My asking price was honestly very moderate but no one wanted to buy it. And...actually it enchanted me. I have nothing invested in this car except new tyres. She found me. No matter what price I get in the future it is a different number than 18K.

Now we're no longer talking about money. Even though the 2.7 has a bad reputation (magnesium engine housing and studs breaking out) I love her. BTW I have a lot of documentation and it has already received reinforced stud threads in the US. The colour is not original, it was Siena red. This is Ice blue which actually only came with the SC.

About the driving experience. Absolutely awesome. Everything is just right for each other. While the 1973 has a ridiculously short first gear, the gearbox here is perfectly matched to the power. For me, the engine represents the pinnacle of air-cooled cars. The 2.4 before it as a T model is a bit too weak and the SC later on is too domesticated (although great). Here is an engine that pushes and pulls. Without resistance, willingly all the way to the top. Okay, what is 165 hp today? But that doesn't matter at all.

You can't compare them with Porsche of today. But rather with a Morgan because you can feel the driving and the speed. The 8 seconds to 60 mph are very different from the 5 seconds to 60 mph in today's cars. Of course, today's 3 seconds are from another world. When it comes to an alternative to Morgan then I find these early 2.7 G models a very related if different choice.

You can buy a modern Porsche, of course, a great car. But as an alternative to the Morgan, a 1975 G has the greater authenticity in my view than a modern one. And it's fun. Of course, everyone has different preferences.

After all the references to Chesil above I was surprised to not see any mention of Speedster Clinic. There you may find non-Beetle chassis or originality, choice of Speedster or Coupe, VW or Subaru engines, options of modern suspension and brakes...............

They are also a chunky little monkey. Wider than my Alfa Stelvio and almost as wide RR Sport. Not much fun on a UK country lane as the Elise/Exige I'd of thought but thats progress for you...

That's a shame to hear of the dimensions, I really like the shape of them a bit edgy but but not Lambo over the top style imho..
The lanes down here would definitely be out of bounds which is where the fun and scenery is to be had.

What's the ETA on your 101 ?

I'd booked a hotel but cancelled again this month as cutting it too fine with the delivery. Deja Vu
