I wonder if anyone can help with this issue. I have changed (with considerable difficulty) the handbrake cable after suffering from overheating rear brakes on my 2014 GDI Plus 4. Now, even though the handbrake cable is disconnected, I cannot get the shoes back on, even with lots of centering and fiddling. How can I release the self-adjuster on these later brakes to effectively reduce the diameter of the shoes? I do not want to remove the shoes completely unless I have to.

There is a hole with bung in it on the back plate to release them. If you go to gomog the picture on there will make sense of it and provide location.

Griffo, you can just make out the little serrated pawl at about 10 o'clock if this helps, just lever it apart and it should spring in and allow the shoes to retract ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/04/21/AP-brakes-3.jpg)

The trick is to remember exactly which order you took them apart in I found and a couple of pictures helps before you start.
