Thanks for all the replies to my query regarding the imposition of E10 Fuel next month, I would also like to thank Tim in particular for all the information he provided, there are still a few things that are problematic, regarding the placement of the Malpassi fuel filter. also, is it necessary to replace the original fuel pump with an electric one? The photo from Webcon shows two jets, well they are mine and I did only use shell V power for 6months until I put the car into hibernation in October. I returned the car to Webcon as I had only driven about 750 miles last year, they were kind enough to restore the jets and clean the interior of the carb, however, I have not switch the carbs back yet as I am unsure whether to discard the "Powerplus " inline tube I fitted in the late 80's early 90's which was designed to boost the octane and replace the lead, I seem to recall it was supposed to increase the power of the engine and the fuel consumption also. I understand it was based on a design during WW2 for Spitfires and Hurricanes in order to boost the octane, I think they are called Fuel Cats now. I still don't know if it works, some say they're just snake oil, I can't say I've ever noticed any difference. As I say I feel it is a very important topic especially for carbureted Morgans, any further thoughts or advice would be most welcome.
Thanks Swordfish

Beware all - I noticed that my BP station has already gone over to E10 on their standard unleaded. Look at the pump before you fill if E10 is going to do your tubes etc. a nasty.

Yes, our local BP changed over a month ago when they had new pumps fitted but I always put the Super Plus stuff in the Plus 8 anyway.

Most of my local fuel stations have gone over to E10 for normal unleaded, but remain E5 for Premium (99). That is Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Esso

I have had to use E10 when travelling across Europe in the +8 and haven't noticed any issues. Like +8 Rich I have always used 97/98/99 in the UK in my +8 (and Merc) and am led to believe this fuel will stay at E5.

Like +8 Rich I have always used 97/98/99 in the UK in my +8 (and Merc) and am led to believe this fuel will stay at E5. I don't think the octane rating is the point at issue, which would explain why you did not notice any problems. Rather that E10 will corrode (dissolve) plastic, rubber and some alloy components that are not designed for it. This includes fuel pipes, fuel pumps, injectors and carburettors as well as other bits of the car. Thus there is a very real fire risk over time, which no-one in the press or government seems to be mentioning in any detail. I also believe from a much earlier post that Morgans such as my 2011 Roadster might well have fuel tanks and engines that are ok with E10 but the pipework in between is not. Has anyone seen a formal position from Morgan? Chris

The BMW Plus 8 has an engine and fuel system that is fine with E10, but I wonder about the Morgan bits that connect the tank to the outside world and the tank to the engine..... Clarification from MMC would be appreciated!
The Merc is fine, and the Tesla has no opinion on the subject!
