What only two... laugh2

Peter from that which I have read it seems modern E10 capable machines may suffer issues if laid up for a period of time where the chemical components of the fuel begin to separate and may create a sort of sludge..the effects thereof which seem unlikely to be beneficial.. confused2

My Plus8 from 2002 has an ENGINE that is reported as ok for E10.
However, the ancillaries such as pump, pipes, filters, tank could well be affected in the long term.
I use the higher octane fuels as much as possible as they have lower or no ethanol. I feel the car runs better and one niggly occasional fault code doesn’t appear with these fuels.

Just filled up at my local Esso. The supreme label still says E5 but the 95 octane now says E10. Esso supreme is though 0 ethanol in some parts of the UK

Just received some advice sourced from a well known Morgan dealer, which I understand has come from the factory.

E10 compliant:
All CX vehicles; all metal fuel tanks, rigid steel fuel pipes on trads, rigid plastic fuel pipes on BMW models;
Engines: BMW, S&S, Ford engines manufactured from 1992, Rover V8 manufactured from1996

NON E10 compliant:
Rubber fuel pipes on pre- CX and on M3W, They suggest careful monitoring of such components for deterioration and replace with Viton or Viton-lined rubber, or similar material as necessary.
Engines: 4 cylinder Rover engines and any engine with carbs.

Not quite as comprehensive as I would have liked! I am fairly sure that my plus 4 has some rigid plastic pipes in the fuel tank/ carbon canister area but none of that is mentioned. Think it’s a case of “suck it and see” though personally I shall stick with e5 as long as possible.
