I use a similar mount to this on my TomTom but I was also thinking along the lines of something that hooks over the tonneau peg so I might give Williams a call and see where their development is up to.

The simplest way of achieving what you are looking for is to buy an aluminium tax disc holder (the ones sold for motorcycles). Bend it through 90 degrees over a broom handle and fit a lift-the-dot fastener in the small hole. A leather pad on the back will protect the car upholstery. You can buy self adhesive sat-nav mounting discs quite cheaply if the surface you end up with doesn’t suit your device. I cannot upload a picture as I have given my version of this away and moved on to a more refined mounting using a fixed mounting for the sat-nav. It still fits on the lift-the-dot peg for the tonneau cover.

I once saw mention of a RAM ball with a stud that's the same thread as a dashboard screw. I looked around and the closest thing that I could find was a RAM 1" ball with a 1/4-20 female thread. That's close enough to the dash screw's M6-1.0 to be chased with a M6-1.0 tap and serve the purpose. Got a long-threaded M6 machine screw and with the head in a vise, screwed the freshly-tapped RAM ball firmly onto it. Sawed off the protruding stud to about the same length as the original dash screw and Bob's your uncle. The Garmin that I'm using doesn't have a 1" socket, so I found a 17mm ball adapter for the Garmin. It kept facing the floor until I treated the ball with some rosin that I had lying around for treating the strap on a strap wrench. That provided enough friction for the Garmin to stay pointed toward me.

I was afraid that the suction cup mount might eventually suck a bulge in the aluminum. With the above scheme, it's a simple matter to restore the original dash screw. Perhaps not the cheapest solution, but reasonable enough.

I just use a plastic disc fixed to the dash on the left hand corner with double sided tape. When not in use I add a black leather disc and its unobtrusive.

I also have a stainless pad designed to fit under the centre tonneau cover stud, which I've never used. Shed made but not by me.

I made this for the Plus Six with 3D printing (white is prototype) it fix in the glovebox and I put a magnetic phone support on your it.
No hole in the dashboard, only 3 x 3mm quite invisible holes in the glovebox and the mount back plane is practically invisible.
If someone want the 3D file just ping me. (You can adjust the ball size but you have to print it with min 60% filling rate)

I've used the suction cup method but I mounted it under the dash with a stick on disk for said cup. I then ordered a different elbow attachment for my Garmin which positioned it in a way that the top of the screen was just above the bottom of the dashboard itself. I personally enjoyed not having it block any of my windscreen tucked away. Happy to mount and post a pic if you wish.

Here's a pic of my latest mount. I remove the tonneau peg ( I don't use the t cover) and replace it with a 2BA * 1" grub screw. I then made the knurled nut and alloy bracket to hold the mount. The satnav does not intrude too far into the screen view and only covers the very tops of the small instruments. The rubber behind the mount stops it vibrating over the bumps in the road.

I have done similar, works well and doesn't obstruct my view through the windscreen.
