My 2011 Plus 4 would benefit from a new hood, I have the "Easy Up" type in basic PVC at the moment. Problem is we normally drive "hood down", so its for parking up at night if we're touring OR emergency deployment if we hit serously inclement weather, and of course if the cars in the garage at home, then its hood up and fully tensioned to keep its shape. So, whilst the existing hood keeps most water out I'm having difficulty in justifying throwing well over a grand at the car for what would be an occasional aesthetic Buzz. What is the panel's experience regarding best material, best supplier in the event of me biting the bullet. Your experiences and opinions are much appreciated.

What's the problem with the existing hood? My Roadster hood is from 2005. I've reproofed it once, but it's still fine.
If you hardly use yours, make it last a bit longer.
Mohair us amazing to look at, but it will fade and rub, and it will leak though the stitching over time. And bird poo will stain and bleach it. Coloured mohair fades more than black and shows the dirt more.
So everflex/pvc is more practical, it just doesn't look as good, but doesn't rub and doesn't appear to fade. And bird poo won't affect it.

The everflex is far more practical for everyday use, the mohair hoods, (can get damp in the garage) will permanently crease if folded down whilst not absolutely bone dry........

My Plus 8 has a Rivenhood Hood, Tonneau and spare wheel cover and if kept clean and stored dry there are no problems with them and they look more classy than the PVC and no leaks so far.
They are the originals so now 22 years old so don't be put off if you like the idea of Mohair.
I found the PVC one's on my first Plus8 and 4/4 Sport marked up quite badly in comparison.
Mine have all been 9 or 10 stud fitting so not Easy up if that is relevant. at all.
I would give Allon White a call .

I have the everflax hood and Renovo works well to clean and keep waterproof.

Yes Dave, so, my hood is giving up at the 2 dot Fasteners at the sides, just behind the doors and also at seams on the flaps above the sidescreens. The pull button on the dot fasteners tends to "disappear" into the PVC and is difficult to unfasten. Other than that I think you might have persuaded me to stick with it. I've done an inner tube puncture repair job on one of the little splits at the seams, on the inside of the hood, probably cost me points in concours situation🤐

I've always had everflex until my current 4/4 which has a 9 stud mohair hood. I think it looks better than everflex and fitting wise it's the best one I ever had.

So for the apparent very little time you put your hood up, don’t replace it. Use a John Taylor cover when parked up in a town or overnight stop.en route. And save the expense this works for us : but presents problems when caught in very sudden heavy rain even with our easy up Mohair hood when as last Monday on the A12 I had to stop and in the time it took to stop, exit car etc seat was wet, shirt was wet and we sat in the car for 5 mins then no rain just spray to deal with.

Simmonds hood conversion in mohair. 70mph+ on the motorway in 'driving' rain, bone dry inside. Get the hood up in about 30 secs, summer or winter, with no broken finger nails. Other hoods are available (but not as good!).
