Lucky boy John, I can't recall seeing one at Goodwood but I'm sure there must have been a few over the years, the Beast, Spitfires and GT40's tend to mist over my vision..

I didn't know the history of Allard until tonight, what a man he was incredible what he achieved here and you can still get one built too, amazing.

Sydney Allard was a larger than life character - he competed in virtually every kind of racing from Hill climbs to Le Mans. Won the Monte Carlo rally in a Allard saloon, only time anyone has won driving their own car. Introduced drag racing to the UK and more .....

The racing Allards were the forerunner of the Cobra - big American V8's in a British chassis.

Unfortunately the car for sale is a pastiche - Rover V8 engine and the proportions are all wrong. The real thing would be £200k plus.

Thanks for confirming the Rover V8, my initial thought was I was losing the plot! smile

Well it is " big American V8's in a British chassis" isnt it? But I dont agree when they say " this is not a modern replica".

thumbs

The Allard name tends to catch my attention, as my parents and grandparents used to have Allard saloons.
