To be honest I'll just be thankful if there is any E5 around in ten years time no matter what the price is so not for me. Let the extra revenue go to the NHS instead they deserve it, I don't, I'm happy to pay for my pleasures in full.. Here is the link you wanted... Why on earth would they want to encourage the biggest polluters onto the road anyway, it is not a well thought through idea.

As much as I and all other classic owners would agree with this, I would think we haven't a snowballs hope in hell of a fuel tax reduction. It is more likely that HMG would put it up to recoup some of the lost tax over the past 18 months.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

Classic car owners are not visible to the Government's policy advisors so this laudable petition has even less change than a snowball in hell. Further, there is no plausible mechanism that would make this possible. Remember, classic car owners already get road tax and MOT exemption.

At the moment we get road tax and MOT exemption, but there are moves afoot to scrap this.

Agree on the tax front - marginal costs for individuals doing limited annual mileage is likely to be very small and logic will almost certainly be if you can afford to run a classic car you can afford the extra few pennies on fuel costs. I think though it is very remiss of the government (Ministers and department staff) not to highlight the risk of fire as well as engine damage that arises from using E5 in vehicles that are not suitable for it. I also wonder if this risk has ever been adequately explained to Ministers. If it had we might well have seen a different decision.

I reckon the super stuff will cost me less than £100 per year this is excluding the better performance and slightly better mpg. I`ll pay it. Just taken my nephew`s 11 year old out for a blat in the Mog - the pleasure he got from it was worth almost any amount.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Government may be seriously considering increasing further the E content in petrol above E10 in the future, possibly E15 then E20. Effectively it will force more and more ICE's off the road.
