Cheers Simon .... that might be a long way to go for a hood fitting (actually, as the crow flies it's closer to me than Manchester .. but I'd have to find a crow that could fly carrying a Morgan 🙂)

I found a very rare Morgan at Salon Prive this weekend where I was one of the judges for the Salon Prive Club Trophy presented by Lockton. Whilst this truly wonderful Morgan (my choice) did not win and was piped in to second place by a stunning vintage Rolls Royce I did feel this car deserved to win due to its rarity value and that fact it is very well used and raced. There were only three of these SLR500 cars ever made so I feel honoured to have seen one in the flesh. I also met Colin Thornton on the stage as he was part of the judging panel for one of the other awards. As a new member to the MSCC and TM it was a privilege to meet Colin and to see such a rare car in the flesh. All in all and excellent weekend.

melvyn-rutter.co.uk did my hood, and I'm sure would make one in this style. Mind you, that is still further away from you than Norway.

We both like this design and never intend to carry live Humans in the back .... it may be impractical (or really stupidly expensive) to get one like it ... but worth following up

Can’t understand the factory not producing similar on the CX platform - I expect it’d sell like hot cakes!!

Last weekend at "Everything old on wheels" I bumped into this.
[Linked Image]
Spoke to the owner and he told me it was a prototype.
[Linked Image]
Then I realized, I know that car.
[Linked Image]
I met them a few years ago. Can't remember when exactly but certainly before the pandemic.
[Linked Image]
He then told me he was having trouble getting the car on the road.
Especially because the VIN no. was not known. (too short)
[Linked Image]
Gave him a few tips - Hermen Pol - MMC Chassis Record - ect.
[Linked Image]
In the end, it was importer Garage Albert who arranged it to get de Morgan back on the streets, even with the short VIN no.
It's a small world.

Do you know what makes it a 'prototype'? Was it an early use of the Rover engine?

Morgan +8 Drop Head Coupe 1975 4-seater (aka SnobMog).
Its exterior is Midnight Blue, while it has a grey leather upholstery and especially made Blue tonneau cover. It has a walnut dashboard and walnut detailing on the doors.
Both the blue top are of the of the luxury "Rivenhood" material. The top is in nice condition, but has some patina.
Contrary to their 1950s +4 counterparts, the +8 Drophead Coupé 4-seater doors are hinged at the front. It was built in the 1990s on a chassis of a 1975 +8.
A rare opportunity to buy the famous one-off “Coachwork by Harper” +8 Drophead Coupe 4-seater. It was built by the late Bob Harper in conjunction with the Morgan Motor Company.
The 3. 9 litre V8 Rover engine is extremely powerful, having modified engine management
The Morgan has had three previous owners and is accident free.
Price 49500.-
Price included returning to RHD stated on the vendors site if necessary.

This car wore 258 BOB when he owned this car and is proudly displayed on the cover of Harpers Spares catalogue which I still use, it is a mine of information on parts.

Car originally had side exit exhausts in Bob's tenure.
