Just filled the tin top with BP Ultimate E5 at £1.49 a litre = £63.98
So £134.28 today.

Filling up the Tesla from the same fuel level costs about £5.50....

I couldn't tell you how much it costs tbh smile at my local BP.. just glad I have a local source of E5..

I have taken Tim's advice though and ordered up a bottle of Castrol Valvemaster to keep in the Plus 8 though thumbs for when I go foreign and get caught short..

Peter , oddly the Esso premium is cheaper than Tesco. I think they make the 95 RON a loss leader.

I will just alternate between E5 and E10 fuel top ups,, top up the tank when about half empty so hopefully never have a full tank of E10, carry some Ethanol treatment with you in case only choice is E10 if the car doesn't like it. Just before putting away for winter, just run the tank down low and fill up with the E5 or put a suitable treatment in the tank, which ever may be the most better option for you. We are all at some point going to have to change the rubber fuel lines and those owners with long term ownership in mind may consider replacing the aluminium tank in the coming years.

Its clearly a ploy to get older more polluting ICE cars off the road, as it must be questionable if there is a lower mpg as a result of using E10, you will use more petrol for the same journey and surely create as much CO2 or possibly more than when using E5. The interesting bit will be the insurance industry response to this when you have the inevitable vehicle fires from ruptured fuel hoses and tanks in the coming years.

Interestingly my 2002 Corsa is fully E10 Compatible.

I use StarTron Enzyme in the Mog and all the bikes. It came out top in all the reviews/research I found.

I have a nice little Hunter Flask I keep under the seat - I can carry about 1/4 litre and has a nice little measuring cup with it smile

It's interesting as compliance is very much for some marques down to a particular engine eg 1.8L Duratec (Mondea) isn't but the 2.0L of similar era is, the Mercedes 1.8 GDI upto 2006 isn't, but all the concurrent other Mercedes engines are.

Whether all the fuel pipe work and tanks are E10 compliant maybe another matter.

Early 1990's UK Harley's had a problem mainly around 93/94 models with the carb and fuel pipework with some owners experiencing fuel leaks due to differences in the composition between UK and USA unleaded fuel

John,

Not sure your quite correct regarding the 1.8 Duratec

The 1.8 SCi certainly in not compliant but this is a direct injection engine normally found with 6 speed boxes.

All others are, I believe ok. My engine is the HE variant (engine code chbb).

Hope I’m correct!

Morgon reckon here that all fuel tanks, steel or aluminium are E10 compliant.
