As you can see from this thread, Gerwyn and I visited Triking which is now owned by Allan Layzell (he worked for Tony Divey who retired for health reasons) as we were both interested and like you, I had previously had details of the cars many moons ago! Allan did mention during the visit that he had built a prototype Morgan 3-wheeler for Morgan, though the approach was through BRA and not direct from MMC. This featured sliding pillar front suspension and in Allan's opinion was not a success. Tony told me that he had been asked to replicate the "signature" sliding pillar suspension but was not happy with it. He designed the Triking front suspension to work in his overall design and I can understand his misgivings about copying the older Morgan system. He also had problems being taken seriously by Moto Guzzi. He wanted to negotiate to buy 100 motors. Unfortunately Moto Guzzi was undergoing dramatic management changes at the time and it was impossible to know who to talk to. We tried to help but could not do much. I think that he managed to get a quote for what he needed in the end but it was almost ridiculously costly. To be fair to all concerned Tony was also on the verge of retiring, as you said for health reasons, and really could not continue to put in the effort required to get the project off the ground. I am no engineer but I still think the blend of Triking and Morgan technology would have been fantastic. However that is all water under the bridge now and there is no doubt that the new Morgan 3 wheeler looks incredible and will be a lot of fun to own. I seriously considered a Triking, for obvious reasons, a few years back, but  wanted something a bit more comfortable, and to tell the truth so did I. I forgot to say that I was also very concerned about the (im)possibility of getting a Triking homologated in Italy. The Italian bureaucrazy is very hard to deal with.

I've just received a letter from my dealer confirming that the three wheeler exceeds the maximum weight for tricycle road tax and it's emissions category will place it at £580 the first year and £250 thereafter.
and now we wait for the COC

Jeez!!!!!!!!! Morgan amazes me............. getting the weight right to meet regulations is a basic! As it comes out of the motorcycle/tricycle category and into car, it will need to be tested to provide the CO2 and fuel consumption figures too. This should have been sorted out well in advance of advertising the car to the public and accepting deposits and I see they have fallen into the same trap with the uprated Roadster. There's a full page advert in the latest Octane for the 3.7L which states "Car pictured; Pre production Roadster 3.7 litre V6 awaiting approvals. Fuel economy and CO2 figures un-available at time of print" 3.7L Roadster advert

Which puts it in the same road tax band as the 3 litre Roadster
