That is how I did it also!

And as John wrote: Get also the other side "fully welded"!
You only have to remove the rail! The rest of the hood can stay at the car!

Berrybrook re-welded mine, a few years ago.
Highly recommended, if youโ€™re in the area, as due to their steam business, they have considerable welding skills.

The original MMC weld was of dubious quality.
