Rubbish. Peel off the rubber seal in the rail and there are screws holding on the hood. Remove those and the bolts holding the corner brackets & then it can be rewelded. MMC are parsimomious with their weld. Get both sides fully welded not just spot welded. I fitted a new rubber seal on reassembly. That's the best word of the day "parsimomious" 🙂 Shame I couldn't spell it

And as John wrote: Get also the other side "fully welded"! You only have to remove the rail! The rest of the hood can stay at the car!

Berrybrook re-welded mine, a few years ago.
Highly recommended, if you’re in the area, as due to their steam business, they have considerable welding skills.
The original MMC weld was of dubious quality.
