Second win was that I finally found a use for the fairly useless Air/Con!

Sounds like lots of things to check for the dealer. Let’s hope one of them solves the issue and doesn’t point to the dreaded control unit death. I know what you are saying Nick but I’ve been persisting for 3 years now so had enough and as soon as this is sorted it will be going into Revolutions on a SOR. Someone will get a car that has had a lot of work done to it mechanically and with my luck will probably have no issues forever more.

Can I ask if these control units are a weak point on all versions of the Aero or is it just the S1?

Phew! Turns out it was a bad earth which was causing intermittent failure of the fan with the wiring worn. Now replaced and working.

Certainly was. My last bill was a small one for a change and the next owner has a working control unit.

Certainly was Nick. It is up for sale and I’m looking at other options but was so relieved I was considering a series 4 that was up for sale at Bell and Colvill if they could say it didn’t use the dreaded control units but found out today it had already sold after only a few days and they didn’t know if it had control unis anyway. So the hunt goes on!
