just left my Plus4 at our Morgan dealer .... springs,U bolts etc are 600 € and 600 € work . ( + taxes)
So i decided to let them do the work , i think 600 € is a fair price , not worth it "trying" to do it myself.......

Hmm...pre-June 1993 Morgan trad..! IMHO, an owner's eye, even an amateur one, is far more vigilant and cautious than 95% of dealers.
Hired people, assuming they look around where they are working at all, often do only the job requested myopically. Largely our fault. We
don't like dealers doing other than the work we ask of them. And admittedly, the community, once famous for its mechanical skills, has
changed with the rest of the world.

In this case, you moved a pre-June 1993 Morgan axle backwards. If measures were not taken, that makes the car significantly
MORE dangerous. Any impact at the rear, or the rear wheels wheels at their sides, will puncture the tank...even at very low speeds. An earlier
Morgan watchpoint cured quietly by Bill Beck (Morgan designer after Owen) by removing the hand brake actuator. pointing like spear at the
petrol tank. They also left brake line holders and even the actuator on the axle That will only allow it to penetrate the tank sooner and deeper,

Read these articles. Many clubs in the world have copied them to their members.

For those of us with pre-June 1993 cars, please drop me a note if/when they burn. I am keeping a list.

Good luck!

Yikes! I had two occurrences within two years of my tin top being rear ended by HGV's. Both while queuing for the dreaded Dartford crossing, both because the HGV's have a substantial blind spot for smaller vehicles, and Morgans are even smaller 🤔

I was rear ended waiting for the Torpoint Ferry in 1988 ish. Even though we were crawling forward at less than 5mph, the bare chested toupe wearing medallion man driving his girlfriends Mazda Rx7, new to her two days earlier, stuffed it into the back of my BGT. Thankfully the low nose went under my tailgate, and the chrome bumper and over riders took most of the force. The rear panel was pushed in, but the Mazda looked like it had been through a wall. He wasn't insured either.

I’ve been rear ended in both Morgan’s but fortunately only lightly. First by a youf and then by white van man. The worst thing is that swmbo is now very ‘twitchy’ when we go out.

[GRIN] I was referring to that specific thread. I do not track your posts. In fact I do not track any Talk Morgan posts.

This is a curious thread. I gave a detailed important warning..which saves lives. I specifically mentioned it involves Morgan [4-wheelers made before June 1993. (20,000+ units) Yet the only people who rushed to respond were those with Morgans made long after the given date and do not have the problem. How odd!

Sadly, Talk Morgan has become the GoMoG Help Line's biggest "business" creator. I learned long ago that it is easier helping when I can trace the line of errant advice that sent them to the Help Line. GoMoG its long history, is now hitting record traffic without eMog, the Autojumble, Mogwire or 1/2 the areas it once had. I am afraid of becoming overwhelmed again.

It may be the format here as well. Lots of different and often wrong or inapplicable answers with no connection with another or a collegiate thread running through them. The worst advice is coming most frequently from those praised the most. If an attempt is made to correct them, the heavens come tumbling down on anyone with the temerity of pointing out where they erred. Yet so often their posts contain the obvious super dangerous mistake they made even when a rank amateur reads them closely and looks at their accompanying images. IMHO, more research and more participation from those that think they can't add anything would be a BIG HELP. I am leaving the "gurus" alone. (shiver)

It would be a big help to the Morgan world if this place (or another) could become more proficient with Morgans. Maybe that would get the REAL gurus back online again.

Incoming....

L

Reading the linked articles in detail, owners of pre-93 cars should check their car for remedial work and hopefully already have, but the comments on pist-93 cars are not a clean bill of health either.
