Hi o’knowledged crew!
Any recommendations on where I can source vintage pressed metal silver on black registration plates please?
I’ve tried two supplies but both won’t allow unless car is 40 years old. These are for show use and I know they aren’t road legal. Anyone had success?

I think this company will do them myshowplatesDon't use them on your car though, they'll make it invisible

If you search on the 'net, there is a company in N.Ireland who have a huge range of plates. I have dealt with them and found them to be quick and helpful, unlike me who can't remember their name!!!!

The fact that two suppliers have told you they can't do it should tell you all you need to know! Nobody is going to risk their registration as a number plate supplier to knock up a set of show plates Arwyn

You could always buy some legit black & orange pressed plates & polish the letters & paint the background!

They are readily available in the U.S.: customeuropeanplates.com for example.

We will not ask you for any documentation and you can even have your order delivered the very next day As registered/legit plate manufacturers need to see proof of ownership (V5 etc), it would appear they are able to do any type of 'show plates'. Just seen if I can buy a set for my 2002 Corsa and could get all the way to the payment screen. Bit pricey at £65 for a pair though! Obviously didn't press pay as they would look gash on my Corsa.....

I had problems getting black and silver plates for my M3W too.
In the end, I managed to get plates on eBay, the front car type one from ej-plates (11316) and the motorbike type rear one from qualitypressings (6434).
They were happy to supply them on the basis they were going to be show plates. 😊

Ace Peak Plates in Ireland made mine. Not sure if they still exist as website is down. They are the original style vintage Ace Plates using a stamped black metal background with individual polished cast aluminium digits. They look superb but not cheap. They didn’t ask for any documents.
