When I fill my 2010 Roadster to the top with fuel I get a nasty smell of fumes (especially with top down) for some miles after refuelling. Is there anything I can do to prevent or reduce this fuel smell (apart from not filling it up)?

What do you call "full"?

Put the nozzle all the way into the tank, fill until the first click (ie when the pump shuts off), then stop. Any more risks fuel escaping to places where it shouldn't.

That's exactly what I do - put nozzle fully into tank then wait for click off. Have checked the breather hose to see if it blocked but it is not.

I would check the filler hoses for cracks. There shouldn't be a smell as the system is sealed.

I usually find a jubilee clip has loosened and caused the smell although I did have to replace the hoses once as they were brittle and cracked.

Don't rule out the common problem of leaking seal along the too of the fuel tank. Causes smell when tank is full. Check by removing parcel shelf and holding kitchen towel paper against the front and side top edges of the tank.
I've experienced it on two mogs, one 2005 car and one 2014 car.

I have the same problem - I am about to get the filler hose changed for a silicone one. Hopefully that will do the trick. Mine`s a Sport 4/4 and it`s a hell of a job to get at the tank & hoses at the rear end.

I could smell fumes on my 4/4 Sport, ended up being a split in the fuel tank. I was lucky and had it replaced under warranty

All very laudable advice just filling to first click but what of the over sensitive cut off fuel station pumps. I would say that nearly half cause issues when filling my Roadster so you have to modulate the flow to avoid continuous interruptions. This belies the true full cut off so invariable need a couple of stabs to prove tank is truly full.

Tried to be clever once and turned nozzzle through 180° to achieve continuous flow only to realise fuel was pouring over my feet later when tank overflowed scared

Having said all this never had any fume issues or rough running after a fill.
