GB motorists driving their cars into Europe will now need to display a new UK number plate or sticker.
As of yesterday the traditional GB sticker used on the back of cars will no longer be valid ...

I never put a GB plate on any of my cars, always had an EU badge next to the numberplate (still have on the Morgan). Nobody ever said anything in 25 years or so.

I'm not sure when I'll go back, but when I do I'll just keep the EU plate and see how I get on.

Yes very annoying as I have just bought new GB number plates.

As another unintended consequence of recent changes in this respect. The Autofill boxes offered by just about everything associated with International Travel have now become more complex. Tapping in UK will not excite most of them and neither will GB. Great Britain no longer brings up the correct option in some - so try 'United' and that will bring up a few - others require us to type 'United Kingdom' in full and brings up 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland' apparently the favoured title of the current Tory administration.

How the hell did they dream this rubbish up. Can you imagine in the middle of a pandemic with the health, economic and other consequences that the burning issue on your desk as a minister is the change GB to UK & cause inconvenience to the population.

Please god send us a real opposition party to kick out these fools.

My goodness, its a sad old world if all I had to worry about is whether I have a GB or UK sticker on the car when travelling abroad, which in the past used to be supplied with your ferry tickets, maybe they still do, if received by post. It re-aligns with our passport which is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and NI. A little concerning is autofill boxes, but they will soon learn to adapt.

As far as 'real' opposition is concerned one of their latest policy proposals is to ban fast food advertising near schools....to fight childhood obesity. What are they going to do about all the fast food establishments near schools, the chippies, the sandwich shops, the burger joints, the regular shops which stock all sorts of food stuffs. Now that is something to get animated about the population and particularly childhood obesity and diabetes, and what is labour proposing banning adverts near schools.... will they take all the phones off children so that they are not blasted with fast food adverts when they surf the net......its pathetic.

As for fast food - I live less than 1/4 mile from the local Comprehensive. Half a mile in the opposite direction is my local chippie (plus a couple of shops) - it's been voted one of the best in Cheltenham for years, can't have that closing! Their only advertising is a simple web site.

EU is no longer allowed, GB stickers have to be removed and no need for number plates in Ireland! (actually just poorly written guidance...)

I'll stick with my Devon one thank you all the same Doris Has it occurred to anyone else that it's in preparation for when Jimmy Krankie gets her way

I don't think a UK plate will look right on my 4/4 somehow
