Disappointingly for a recently purchased second hand vehicle from a reputable dealer I have just found that our Roadsters central cobra light is falling off after 55 miles of road use. It looks like it should have been secured by two screws. Are these special ACME type threaded screws or generic wood screws. I haven't yet taken off the spare wheel to gain access, but it would be good to know if they are special screws so I can order them.
Any info appreciated.

They are wood screws and from memory 4 of them.

Yep, just zinc plated woodscrews, you may wish to replace with stainless

Mine are all in at different angles and spacing like a Friday afternoon rush job...........

Ye olde trick of using a match less the head and glue may help if they have chattered the holes.

Mine was wonky from new with screws all over the place. Think MMC should take the blame for crap workmanship in the first place. Note also, the light can often be bumped each time the spare wheel is removed, unless care is taken.

By chance I had my spare wheel off a couple of weeks ago, to have a bit of a clean-out in the recess areas. Sure enough, the cobra was wobbly (laterally). Just needed tightening the countersunk woodscrews, the heads of which pinch down on the two little routered-out slots, which also permits adjustment to "proper vertical". If I was designing it, I would find a way for some kind of positive location. It is so vulnerable though, in close proximity to the spare, that maybe a bit of knock-ability isn't a bad thing.

The slots are to accommodate different widths of wheels, which for such a small slot, is impressive.

Thanks for pointing that out, the geometry had never occurred to me.

It is surprising but if you pump the spare up to say 30 psi you can see the gap close as the tyre expands lightly. I was testing / playing with my new rechargeable tyre inflator at the time.
But they also make different lengths of the shank. I bought used a cobra head from a 4/4 to see if I could make a brake light out of it for when the suitcase covered the existing cobra. The shank was shorter than my S1 Roadsters one. I assume to accomodate narrower tyres.
