If you're not interested, no need to comment  Black History Month - Evening StandardCoincidently Simon Woolley has just been sworn in as Principal of my Alma Mater - the first Oxbridge College to have a Black Principal.

Given the larger number in the UK are we going to have a brown history month for those of Indian / Pakistani decent. Maybe even a yellow month for those from China, Japan, Malaysia etc? Only fair.
Never heard of Homerton. Mind you my old alma mater has just invented Reuben college! Everything changes..

Perhaps start a topic in the soap box if you're really that bothered by it. Or you could engage with the local communities and start one up. Everything has to start somewhere. Never heard of Homerton. Mind you my old alma mater has just invented Reuben college! Everything changes.. Only been in Cambridge since 1894.

Personally I dont see how we will ever get proper integration by emphasising difference, but as you say thats an item for the soap box if there is indeed any point in p***ng against the wind.

In 1894, the college moved from Homerton High Street, Hackney, London, to Cambridge. Homerton was admitted as an "Approved Society" of the university in 1976, and received its Royal charter in 2010, affirming its status as a full college of the university. The college celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2018.

It is not about emphasizing difference, but rather acknowledging others and other. In other words, acceptance. There will never be "integration" if all people can see is "difference".

I wont say anything more after this post because the subject is a sensitive one and not really for discussion here. But you comment "There will never be "integration" if all people can see is "difference"." - just what is Black History month emphasising but a difference? A different history for each and every ethnicity?
Integration requires that people dont see any difference at all. Not seperate histories or seperat cultures. Black history month is IMO racist
