Hi Everyone. I'm new to this website so i'm a bit unsure how to use it correctly. So if i'm not, please accept my apologies. I mean no offence! I'm just trying to find out whether anyone knows what the average MPG on a ARP 4 are? I'm thinking of buying one and just want to check. Thanks!

Welcome Morgan93 On autoblog it says: with no official performance figures, we'd estimate 0-60 mph in less than six seconds and a hood-erected top speed of maybe 130 mph. It'll return about 17 mpg, and a lot less if you use it hard.

Smoother, no flat spots and 30 mpg

If you send a private message to PaulJ on here he will tell you as he has had one from new and is a very keen driver of quick cars and will give you an honest appraisal. Definitely test drive one for a bit as I know one was bought new from a SW dealer and returned very quickly as it was quite a noisy exhaust sound is the extent of my knowledge of the model I'm afraid.

Agreed Richard. The ARP 4 is like a 2 stroke motorbike. You will always be chasing the powerband. It is really a race car on the road so might not be for you. Are you looking at the red one in Krazy horse?

Most welcome to the Morgan community, and you will get a lot or "f help here. As general advice, your topic is better suited in the forums "Classic Morgans" or "Maintenance and servicing". No one will be offended if you place your thread in a less suited or wrong forum, but you will get more readers and thus answers when the topic is put in the right place. As for the ARP4, a friend of mine used to have one. He sold it, much too noisy. Try several models, take your time. For V8 torque, charm and burble a +8. For nimbleness and "chuckability" a 4/4, or +4 if your wallet is deeper and you want more power. For effortless cruising with a modern engine that also can deliver loads of performance if you step on it, a Roadster - expensive though. And if you have masochistic tendencies, a M3W..... Good luck with your search.

i was very satisfied with my arp4 . The car is equipped with lots of options . 5 link rear suspension , 4 disk brakes ( brake a lot better than my new plus four) , the brake assist is an electrical pump, the hood in mohair of better quality than my plus four ,etc.. But indeed the car is very noisy . I had to drive with earplugs ,and as the motor lack of torque you had to push it above 5000 round/min to have power , witch means more noise coming from the throttle bodies. The direction is very hard due to the tyres (it is better to have the power assisted direction) . Now i have the plus four witch is more confortable and can be driven on the torque and has largely enough power but is less "special " than the arp4. Be carefull with the CoC , it is the one from a normal plus4 meaning the co is not correct . In uk i dont think it is a problem but in europe you have to be carefull. The car is not allowed to drive in swiss and in austria for exemple.

Didn’t they have issues with the handbrake effectiveness too, requiring modification, as several were failing MOT. Not sure how good the mods were.
