Well ..... I injected some expanding foam into the void at the back of the sidescreenpadding - be careful — it expands hugely - I taped the back of the pad and left a gap just enough for the tube to fit in so when it expanded it didn’t come back out in a blob —- YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!! I then gently sprayed the edge of the foam with satin black paint( my upholstery is black) if yours is a different colour you have the challenge to get a spray can of the necessary paint colour to sort it or get foam of the matching colour. I could only get the standard off white so needed to paint the edge. This mostly solves the gale issue but there is still a draught at the back of the door which requires a wedge of neoprene foam placed on the door ope so that it fills the space at the back of the door when closed. This then sorts it!!!
I still wish I didn’t have the roof with the flap, but apparently it can’t be changed so I have put a strip of Velcro on it which mates with a strip on the front of the windscreen pillar. This stops the flap flying out and rain coming in. It does mean you have to open the window when the door is closed to attach the Velcro!!
All good fun!!!
Cheers,

Hood? I only use this in heavy rain. So I don't care if it's quiet or not. The main thing is that most of the rain stays outside ...

Jens, you're right, the Morgan is a roadster, not a convertible, so it should be driven open. I personally like the hood with the flaps, holding them open through the sides screens while closing the door is something you only experience with the Morgan. And in rain, you always have that tent feeling.

Beltempo -you clearly live in a climate which makes driving roof down possible for most if not all journeys. Sadly, I do not. Therefore driving with the roof up is a necessity if one is to enjoy ones Morgan. Therefore it is a requirement that it function without leaks or noise to the level that ear protection is required. This is what I, and others wish to have - would that we lived where this is unnecessary, but we don’t!! Enjoy your car as you can — don’t criticize others for wanting to do likewise!!

I do find it perplexing but also quite staggering the poor levels of rain and wind insulation provided by Morgans. Haven driven convertible cars of all makes from the humble MG Midget to a Rolls Royce for nearly 50years . I have never experienced in other makes the levels of tailoring necessary for a modern Morgan to achieve a decent level of wind and water sealing of the hood and frame, no other car have I found it necessary on occasion to wear a warm water proof jacket whilst driving in heavy rain with the hood up.
There is nothing new about a soft top roof, many car manufacturers have achieved high levels of efficiency from their roofs with a little ingenuity and often with quite basic design, executed well in production that seems to just escape Morgans efforts, for what is now a quite expensive car. Even the humblest mass produced Midget with a similar hood design could seal the glass side windows against the worst of the elements.

Does the 21/22 model year hood still use the crappy bonnet catches at the rear of the hood?

The 22MY car has the same catches at the back as my Plus 4 and Roadster did. I find they work OK if adjusted properly. When I had the car serviced at Ledgerwood's they always tightened it up too much and I had to slacken it off. The Plus Four has a much better lever to release it.

Any chance of a photo John, as one or two of us have broken the plastic ones on trads & I wonder if they are interchangeable ?

Robbie,
I’m sorry if you feel criticised. I don't even know you, why should I criticise you. Maybe that's because of my poor English skills but that was absolutely not my point. Morgan has a unique position in the market, it’s the last true roadster that is available. There are convertibles by the bucket load, there is no need for another one. I fear that, with ever increasing expectations, Morgans could loose what makes them unique in the first place. And that is not the quality of the hood. Morgan has a proven track record of over 7 decades of leaking roofs. This has never been high on their priority list. Every potential buyer should be aware of that before he/she makes his/her choice.
Sure there are improvements possible but you can see by the discussions about the shoulder room with the newer hood that you always pay the price, each advantage carries its disadvantage with it. Even if that is only the size of the folded roof. Have a look at the roofs of the Aero's I to V.
And we all have our normal cars, even watertight tin tops, already at home.
Let’s keep Morgan unique by giving them some room for imperfections and clear priorities on pure open top fun. By average expectations and as a car, Morgans have been horrible for most of their being. That is why they survived. Lets celebrate that. But just to be clear, I fully respect every other opinion on that, just my thoughts.

Markus, No Problem -- perhaps I was a bit too sensitive after 2 hours of a gale assaulting my Kidneys!!! I am all too aware of Morgan eccentricities as this is my 4th Morgan --BUT-- it is unacceptable when the hood(Well used in Irish conditions!) basically causes a chill in the kidneys after normal use!! I have now spent a few hours trying to eliminate this gale and have only partially succeeded, so more sleuthing is needed!
Cheers!
