Great day and so a 60 mile loop down to the Milk Churn at Rudgewick for cheese on toast and essential supplies from the Firebird Brewery set conveniently next door. The car park offered up a group of big bikes all arrayed along a couple of spaces, a neat Lotus Elise driven by a game looking gal of indeterminate age and an Aston convertible driven out at some speed by a blonde bombshell, top down .... the car of course, and roared up the road.

The gent at the Brewery helped us out with our swag and recognised the car "I went round the Morgan factory last year" I said "did you buy one?" "No I have one already, a 30's 3 wheeler with a JAP engine bequeathed by my dad, it has a hand throttle and the pedals are placed differently, all in all a difficult drive". What are the chances?

Yep, it was around the Neolithic/Bronze Age transition that there was a vast deforestation of Dartmoor and similar woodlands. It coincided with the wider adoption of farming, and the shift from Hunter Gatherer to Agriculturalist

The planet was certainly warmer in the pre-roman and neolithic periods.
An interesting article in New Scientist, 10 years ago.

Essentially, the increase in CO2 that concerns so many may actually be holding back another mini ice age.

Ruddiman suggests that the deforestation and resultant wood burning in the neolithic was as contributory to global warming as the Industrial Revolution.....

The previous owner, who had the car from new, had a new bespoke switch panel made up with the toggle switches and warning lights in 2011 - he had a lot of things changed around then including a complete JE Engineering engine rebuild that pumped the bhp up to 245bhp (from about 200 as standard). He also changed the suspension to cope with the higher torque - fun car to drive, if a little noisy! I have changed the front suspension to the Rutherford set up -- much improved the ride! Going to have the silencers repacked in next couple of weeks to see if that tones down the exhaust resonance at around 65 - 70mph that plays havoc with my tinnitus for a day or so after a long run! (Also might tone down the pointed comments from the navigator about making our presence known!)
