Hi All,
Whilst my engine is in bits, I'm considering changing to fully synthetic oil.
Have anybody done this and how do you find it?

Motul or Castrol both make good Vtwin 20-50w full syn oils.

Funnily enough, I've gone the other way! I used to use Motul fully synthetic: ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/10/19/Screenshot-2021-10-19-at-12.37.54.png) However, a couple of years ago I switched to: ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/10/19/Screenshot-2021-10-19-at-12.31.27.png) No perceivable difference in real world use apart from the Silkolene is around half the price of the Motul. Part of the reason for switching was to see if it helped prevent, or at least slow down wet-sumping. It doesn't. My view is that many different oils will be fine in the X-Wedge but the important thing is to change it regularly (the oil not the engine RobP).

Ah...I've just agreed to go with Motul from Krazy Horse. I don't mind paying a but extra as it's not that bad considering the reatively low mileage done.
Cheers everybody.

The mechanic at the dealership where I bought mine (Stefan at Morgan West, Santa Monica CA) told me to use this Motul, and nothing else. He also advised me not to buy it from Amazon, where there are counterfeits of it! ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/10/19/IMG_1937.md.jpg)

I use the Mobil 1 synthetic 20/50 for V-Twins. As an aside I would also agree that changing the oil out religiously is probably more important than the oil itself.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

With the average annual mileage we do coupled with the at least yearly oil changes it truly doesn't matter which oil you use as long as it is a 20/50 V-Twin oil.
