It makes sense even if it’s not accurate. My CD175, CB250, CB450 and CB750 were all totally oil tight. Every BSA and Velocette I owned were incontinent!

Great collection of Honda's to have owned and enjoyed, I have also ridden the CB175 a great bike that punches well above its weight, the CB350 twin, the early four cylinders from 450 cc upwards and of course the massive CBX six cylinder monster of a machine. When I think about buying a 70's bike for my collection, although the Kawasaki triples and Z900 along with the Suzuki Kettle feature strongly in the line-up I'm always drawn back to a Honda 750 4, the trend setter, the mould breaker, of the late 60's and early 70's.

Cheers John

The CD175 was ‘snuck’ past my parents as it didn’t make noise or look threatening, but through it I loved the brand. The 250 and 450 were a natural progression. The 750 is the one I was riding when I had the big accident. Not the bikes fault as a lorry crossed the road in front of me! Over the years I had a couple of CD175’s as they were amazing commuter bikes. Cheap as chips and beat driving into the centre of Birmingham saved 30 min each way over a car.

Honda and other Japanese manufacturers certainly created the future of m/cycling while it seemed we Brits were stuck in the past and paid the price..?

Having a friend who was both a Triumph and Honda m/cycle dealer provided me with the opportunity to try out new models. I rode my pals first delivered Honda 750 four forward and back across central Scotland on the M8 to give it a bit of a run before he rode it in the production m/cycle race at Knockhill the following weekend, in reality just to display it to the crowd as opposed to hoping to win....I suggested perhaps best not to push his luck as the tyres were rubbish, it squirmed every time I had crossed the white lines on the m/way. I did much the same with the Gold wing when it arrived on the scene another impressive machine. I had a CD 125 for a while which was a superb little machine I also ran a 500/4 which although a bit skittish but was a very smooth and reliable commuter

All that typed and as a garage queen I would rather have an old Norton Triumph or Harley...!

This has been the longest period I have not had a motorcycle just sitting in my garage. Always had a Harley there for over 25 years, if only for reassurance and a sense of well being, even if it didn't turn a wheel. Harleys brought a smile to my face, a sense of inner contentment and security, just there to remind me of former times.
