Yes it'll come sooner than most think, they are bound to have teething issues I can't wait as it really will be a step in the right direction with minimal batteries for the interface. I'd buy one of them no problem.

EVs burn as well. As Richard says they will get there. JCB have a range of hydrogen driven diggers in development. Smaller ones with fuel cells but the big toys have ICEs burining hydrogen.

Courtesy of google translate it is not clear whether the bus was the cause of the fire or was just inside a building that caught fire.
They do say "However, several explosions were heard. It was feared that the hydrogen tanks would explode, but this did not happen due to the safety system in the bus itself."
This suggests to me that it wasn't an issue with the hydrogen system on the bus it was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time - but thankfully the hydrogen didn't ignite.

Nor would it till a stochiometric mix was achieved. Explosive range for Hydrogen in air is from 4 to 74% so if it gets out of its containers and finds an ignition source it will go up very easily indeed almost regardless of concentration. Just as well so much effort has gone into making containers that are good at keeping it in when things turn nasty.

Agreed. You can say the same about vapourised petrol but car fires are very rare due to petrol. Most are related to electrics.
