Thank you thierry242 for taking the time to share that interesting article, I totally agree with your statement they are wonderful colourful machines in an increasingly grey world of cars thumbs

I second that!!!!
Spent a fun hour or two yesterday using neoprene strip on multiple parts of the door and through trial and error seem to have managed a comparatively water and hurricane proof solution.
I took Belle out again today in the pouring rain (proper pouring) to both wash off yesterday’s mud and see how it coped with excess wind (weather, not me) and I have to say I am feeling a little smug after my 20 mile blast!!!!
Have found out that the windscreen demister appears to take approximately one hour to demist and also (may have been there anyway) but above 63 mph the roof starts to vibrate within v loud “thrum” near the rear window (possibly sealed everything too well so little air flowing through to ease aero pressure)….but it’s a price worth paying. Also used a v small bit of neoprene strip to redirect the rain on the driver side windscreen strut so it doesn’t drip as much onto my hand/knee.
Satisfying work and Dave deserves commission imo

They ain’t pretty but was working round seams and different sized gaps and didn’t want to distort the sidescreen….similar on the passenger door although different sized gaps (it is a Morgan after all) meant different numbers of layers of strip to fill the gaps to the door frame…the seal on the first picture runs all the way to the door hinges as I found that MMC had left a gap in their own seal plus it wasn’t especially close fitting nor “sealy”…

Ps could even be my own entry to “What have you bodged up today” which, being the least practical person in the world, I never thought I’d be partaking 😝

Many thanks HB.

At least it gives me something to look at when I finally get it back from the factory.

There is one more thing.................

The original seals and side screens have the ability to chafe the paint. On my 2012, along the bottom edge of both doors the paint had worn through completely in patches to bare aluminium.

Under the side screens, the material texture was embedded in the paint. So you must watch for this. I added some clear paint protection film to minimise this effect.

HB,
As far as the ingress of water at the windscreen pillar goes, I had the same issue as there is no rubber seal at the base of the pillar. I squeezed some black “sikaflex” along the outside edge of the pillar and this solved it. I’m away from the car so can’t send a picture, but I’ll post one later in the week when I get home. I judge this as a modification of a small imperfection and the type I enjoy solving. Radiators though are a major component which should NOT leak and the factory are negligent in leaving the dealers to just replace with similar defect (ref our friend in Belgium on his 4th rad)

Cheers!

Cheers Robbie
I’ve only been out in wet conditions in past two or three weeks so uncertain re water dripping in the garage - hoping it’s just rainwater!!!!

Folks I am attaching a few photos to this postthe one of the windscreen support shows that the MY2021 cars did not have the newer seal around the bottom of the pillar so I inject black "Sikaflex" in the gap - it can just be seen along the top of the scuttle.this stops rain coming in at the bottom of the windscreen.
Also attached is a photo of the back of the drivers door - you can see a piece of neoprene tape at the back of the aluminium piece of the sidescreen- this attaches both to the sidescreen ad also to the rubber strip which protrudes down from the aluminium bit of the sidescreen. this seals off the gap between this strip and the sidescreen when driving as what happens is that rubber strip blows outwards in the slipstream and the gale then enters at the back of the sidescreen!!!the third image is of the rubber strip on the outside for reference. As i said in previous posts I injected foam into the gap beterrn the sidesscreen pad and the sidecscreen itself to seal off the gap between the two

I did mine with car door seal strip from Amazon, here is one example: Door seal

There are a few other profiles.

So far so good, it has certainly blocked 95% of the wind from the door gaps although the hood still allows a light breeze through. The tops of the window pillar are a bit of a challenge and my side-screens do not meet the pillar seal on the vertical edge - that is a job yet to be done.
