Never was into Janis Joplin even when younger, or Tom Jones for that matter, until I heard him sing "A Boy From Nowhere" in the linked vid a few years back, perhaps my fondness for that part of Spain had something to do with me becoming so impressed.. Well Luddite .... something we'll have to disagree on 🙂 ...... JJ was one of the unfiltered originals .... raw and undisciplined ... in a way you never see today in the well-choreographed 'boundary breaking to order' of the current music scene.




I have a short list of performers I wish I'd seen back in the day and she's right up there .... magenetic and driven

Janis Joplin just like Jimmy Hendrix would have been the dream ticket for me live, both possessing such massive talent and presence and wonderfully out of control, I don't believe either of them had a stage manager laugh2

Jim Morrison thrown in for good measure - I never got the Beatles or Rolling Stones tbh they were all pretty tame to me...

Just sad they both pressed the self destruct button but boy what a legacy they both left behind.

'Dulcet' her tones are definitely not! 🙂 ..... we all like different stuff, and the world is a better place for it .... though, on the spectrum of things an opera fan would consider TJ a raucous shouter .... JJ is just a bit further down the 'gargling with razor blades and Jack Daniels' road than he is .... she appeals to my love of the rough and unfinished but uncompromising. ...... Musical taste is very personal.🙂
