Hi all,
I have been 'away' for a little while but 'lurking' in the background and keeping up to speed with Morgan antic's!
I will only add to this debate by saying, sticking neoprene onto a new Plus Four that costs somewhere north of £60k.....is just lunacy! I used to laugh at BL build quality....
Morgan need to get a grip of these issues and just take a look at what their owners are trying to 'engineer' on their own?
I am a potential returning (new car) Morgan owner, that just won't happen until some of this is sorted.
I hope to read things have improved - in a little while for you guys - I might test a new Morgan then.....regards Mark

I can see where you’re coming from Mark and don’t blame you at all esp as you already have experience of dealing with mogs. I guess i take the view that the flaws are the price I am willing to pay for the looks (wouldn’t necessarily say happy to pay as such but…). If I wanted no relative imperfections I probably could have gone for a Porker, but I love the looks and reaction created by the Mog so accept these “issues”…it’s great that we are all different with different wants so we see variety on the roads…
One area that is frustrating me at present, however, is that, due to ear infection, I am having to drive with the roof up all the time and the view from the rear view mirror is blocked by the low point of the roof out the back. Does anyone know (or have fitted) the Librands mirror (or an alternative) and does it mean you can see more of the road behind on these new Plus Fours (old style flappy roof)? If you have does it simply fit into the existing attachment? It looks as if the stalk points downwards more so possibly holds the mirror further/lower down the windscreen but I don’t want to spend the cash on a speculative effort. Thanks in advance and apologies for thread drift… Best wishes to all HB

The solution would be to unstick the rear mirror support and glue it lower. But in that case you will have the rear visor in the middle of the wind screen.

Cheers Thierry Had thought of that but, following windscreen replacement, I had 3 months with no mirror at all due to issues with the bonding to the new glass and don’t really want to go through the same problems again if I can help it so would rather try a mirror with a different stalk if one exists… HB

You could try various positions of mirror using one of those aftermarket ones with the suction cap fitting perhaps? I have the mirror on the rod trype and can set the mirror nice and low. Nick

The solution would be to unstick the rear mirror support and glue it lower. If you do manage to unstick the mirror mount, please let us know how -- I've tried all sorts of solutions and mine is still well and truly STUCK ! Something to do with the adhesive, the sort that gets harder as it is exposed to ultra-violet light. Any really aggressive intervention to remove it will almost certainly crack the screen, and you don't want to do that ! https://youtu.be/OYiDcnrM0Mo

Getting back to the fit of the doors , there is a new Plus Four for sale at Revolutions, not sure how to link to the specific photo, so have linked to the car. The sidescreen has what I would expect to be the intended fit, tight up against the hood frame, and tucked under the edge of the fabric for its full. length. If you compare it with the fit on the silver car earlier in the thread you can see the difference. https://www.revolutions.uk.com/wp-content/themes/revolutions/images/products/large/1636475005_1.jpg

I hope to read things have improved - in a little while for you guys - I might test a new Morgan then.....regards Mark I agree with you 100% Mark. I was ready to pull the trigger on a bespoke and might I say heavily optioned Plus Four. It would have been around the £90K mark. However, having read some of the teething issues here, reflecting back on my 4/4 and all the re-work needed when it came out of the factory and a few other things better left unsaid, I just couldn't justify it. The CX is a massive leap in regards to ride and handling but a Morgan is about craftsmanship and being bespoke. Sadly like you, I hope MMC pull their socks up and make a car that for me at least, would justify an almost 6 figure purchase. Hope MMC has a door seal solution for those dealing with this.

I'm not sure you can see the difference. My new Plus Four looks exactly like your photo ie but it's at the top of the side screen where the problem lies. The hood touches the door perfectly all the way around but it's the side screen ie the piece below the actual window that doesn't touch the car hence the ingress of wind.
