New to the Morgan cars, but not to British cars and the UK itself.
Have been in the MG world for 35+ years. I'm down to one now and it will be sold next summer.
Owner of a 95 +8, just purchased a month ago. Low mileage car with 7K miles. Looking forward to actually driving it. I'm the 4th owner!
For a little background: Retired US Air Force. Jet engine mechanic on B-52, KC-135, C-130, F-4 and a few others. Retired and went to college. Taught high school auto mechanics for 20 years or so. Also taught programming and computer applications at the local community college.
COMPLETELY retired now and just golf, fish and shoot clay targets.

Greetings from the other side of the Pond.
I describe myself as a retired aircraft designer, but you'll need to have seen the movie "Flight of the Phoenix" to understand that......

Sounds like the car is in need of you to drive it as well! .... that's not a lot of miles on it in 25 years (couple of runs into town by US standards!🙂) ..... sounds like you have the skills to recommission and maintain it ..... and possibly even to master posting pics of it on this forum!! 😁

Welcome ... this is a friendly and useful forum so hopefully you'll settle in here.

K

Ps .... with that list of planes you spannered on I'd guess you were quite familiar with some of the flatter areas of the UK!! 🙂

Peter you've posted some intriguing clues. I saw the movie many many years ago - and Lord of the wings adds to the mystery. A career in movies specialising in aircraft and flying? thinking

I wish ! No, my experience of designing aircraft is restricted to MODEL aircraft, over a period of more than 50 years. In the movie, the character played by Hardy Kruger worked for German model aircraft company, Schuco Hegi https://youtu.be/8iQW_FQpdvc?t=130

Readers of "Aeromodeller" and "Radio Control Models & Electronics" magazines, may have seen some of my design/construction features. And I won a few competitions along the way. Nothing as fancy as the Tournament of Champions mind you, which was held for many years in Las Vegas, although I did report on the 1982 championship. My wife and I were on a round-the-world business trip, and I accidentally just had to go to Vegas. You couldn't make it up….

Hence the ID Lordofthewings (with apologies to Tolkien). Whereas Morgan wings are a recent addition to my passions.

Welcome to the forum Thomas.

A 1995 +8 is a very good car which will give you an awful lots of smiles per mile.

My only concern is the lack of mileage. 7k in over 20 years is so little I would be concerned about some of the seals drying out through lack of use. I am sure your aero/auto engine experience will enable you to home in on any problems. I would be looking at the rear brakes carefully, and the coolant system.

There is a lot of expertise here , don't be afraid to ask, there are no silly questions , just stupid mistakes from folk not asking them.

Welcome Thomas. Ooh that makes a nice challenge- I managed to double the odometer reading in just under 18 months. If you manage to double that in a year you should iron out all the gremlins associated with limited operation, and have a barrel of fun whilst you`re at it. As mentioned, theres a wealth of knowlddge and experience on this forum, as well as decades of archived and updated info on GoMog, so you wont be lacking any resource should you need it; although with your resume the somewhat agricultural and analogue plus 8 should present no major issues!
Have fun and keep us posted.
Best wishes
Phil
