Evenin' all.
I put the hood up the other day and I think it might be the first time since Jan 2018, except for raising it to hoover it and check it generally. Any way I thought it a bit awkward at the front but all seemed well so thought no more about it. Today I decided to put it down and take off the side screens again (don't often use them ) and as I did so the nearside plate to which the hood catch is secured, came away. Interesting. Anyway, after some thought and careful examinatiion I removed the rubber seal which exposed several torx screws. Removing them released the front trim from the rail so that now I can take it and have it repaired and reinforced. The felt trim is held on with plastic dummy screws which just push out so if anyone has this happen them. and I suspect that it will because the bracket was barely attached, fear not because it is easy to remove.I was fortunate that this occurred in the garage and I could take my time with it.

Thanks for the link -- the weld in that post is truly madly awful. As far as I can tell, the welding in that area on my car is close to full-length, so I'm hopeful it won't be breaking-off anytime soon. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/11/15/Lousy-welding.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2021/11/15/Hood-latch-welding-1.jpg)
