Firstly sorry to hear that always a disapointment on a special car so early on.

My 4/4 Sport screen cracked on passenger side from top to bottom on the outer laminate only (wiper side as it were)whilst the car was stationary outside my house in a cul-de-sac.
She was 20 months old then - approached my (good and helpful) agent in May and it took MMC until August to deliver to the agents. Agents first reaction to the problem was to advise me to put in a windscreen Insurance claim. They had by this time been told by MMC to follow this route. This of course worked with me having to pay £75-00 excess out of the £972-07 replacement costs which I know MMC should have covered under warranty.

You just end up feeling screwed over I'm afraid and will not forget this high handed attitude from MMC in not carrying out it's moral duty.

Please read the other thread for a balanced view of the screen saga.

Ran a +8 for 4yrs prior to the 4/4 Sport with no such screen problem, the only difference between them (screenwise) being that the Sport is heated and the +8 was standard laminated is the only observation really.

Enjoy your miles and Good Luck with the screen replacement.

Richard

this thread is deeply shocking for a number of reasons:

1, cost of new windscreen .. looks pretty simple thing to me

2, MMCs attitude to customer service

Unless the car was supplied by MMC the contract is between customer and supplier of the product. There are many threads on this forum where the screens have been replaced under warranty by the supplying dealership if it was proven the fault lay in the installation of the screen or the screen itself. But to automatically assume the manufacturer should replace the windscreen is poppycock. I cannot think of one example where I have claimed for a new screen from the manufacturer of the car I own, so why would MMC have to prove to be different?

Expensive poppycock - I can think of no other serious manufacturer who has suffered so many screen failures either. Having driven for 43 yrs in many countries I have only had three screens replaced. None of which failed whilst the vehicle was at rest.

There comes a time when you have to put your hand up and take responsibility for your product, now is the time.

You are correct in your judgement, it is cheaper to have a new DG front porch door manufactured and installed !

You say "so many screen failures" It would be interesting to know just how big the problem is. Morgan must be aware of the fragility of the screens...when picking my car up from them, the Sales Manager emphasised the care needed in fitting the hood and not using the screen header rail as a support whilst getting in and out!
