Now, the cylinder is cleaned and dismantled. VERY interessting.

At first: it‘s a LOCKHEED LB16HC08 M 16. The „M“ is the mystery, it‘s stamped over two other letters.
Dismantled the seals are 15.7mm

That‘s not unusual- but now: there are massive metalflakes in the seals!

So it‘s worth for a more detailed look. There are a lot of repairkits available (from 2.50 EUR to 6.00 EUR) and if it show no scratches inside I‘ll rebuild it.

I‘ve ordered some repairkits and now I‘ll clean and inspect it. The worry: what‘s about the slavecylinder, are there metallflakes too?

After the rebuild I‘ll give further information.

Update: it‘s scratched inside, so no rebuild as a DIY possible.

The parts aren‘t the problem, the cylinder is inside damaged by the metalflakes.

I would recomend past parts in Bury St Edmunds Suffolk they rebuild fit new liners and seals... well worth talking to them

A master cylinder shouldn't fail after 3 years, I would be trying to work out why.

Are the metal flakes from where Morgan have modified the cylinder (eg enlarged fixing holes) and then stamped MM on cylinder, or is cylinder too short a stroke for application & bottoming out?
Any 5/8" cylinder with sufficient stroke will work with appropriate pushrod & mounting flange mods, but perhaps you don't want to be modifying a 3 year old car - unless Morgan got it wrong!

For UK members a range of master cylinders are available from Car Builders Solutions, a quick eBay search shows that 5/8" cylinders were even used on German cars including Audis.

that all are points I think about.

A mastercylinder must have a longer life than 3years, 25000 KM or something like that. Fact is there are flakes in and
in the moment I‘ m on the way looking around for possibilities.

I agree, René. A master cylinder should last much longer. My 2008 Plus 4 has covered 60000 km and has had no such problems. My father had a Citroën GS with more than 500.000 km on thd odometer when it was driven to the junk yard. The plastic steering wheel was worn out, but the brake main cylinder and the rest of the hydraulic system parts were all the original ones. Only the gas suspension spheres had been changed.

Summary:

For a repair of the inside of the cylinder are some possiblyties around. I think not the bargain or the easy way. The summerary includes MANY hours of research.

For a bargain: some TWR cylinders are around for about 20,-EUR. There are two ones where can made a hybrid. This hybrid
needs a special spacer which cures the bores of the fixing screws from 54mm up to 70mm.

The wonderful thing: a late 1990ies SAAB 2000 Hatch cylinder will match. Match? Not real, it needs a 12mm screw to the hose.
The MOG has a 10mm. So there I need a special made hose.

The TWR idea is cheap, but a lot of work and improvement. At a new car.

The SAAB idea: a benefit of about 50,- EUR.

So I go „plug and play“ and fit the original part.

With a very massive help from Britain today I‘ve got the original cylinder.

Before fit the cylinder I had a look inside the slavecylinder. No metalflakes! The second good news.

It was fitted in about one hour and all looks good. But I‘ve got no pressure or only a little. So I think I call a friend for
a professional bleeding.
