When it fires up it runs as well as normal. I'll check the plug ends tomorrow and report back.

The crank position sensor is located on the front of the engine to the lower right of the cam belt cover. Trace the wires back to the connector and disconnect. It is a two pin connector that you can put your multimeter on. Remove the plug wires and crank the engine. The meter should read around 1 volt, if significantly lower, this could be the problem.

i would check to see if the throttle is returning to zero because if it is slightly open it will not start or start correcty.
