However are they a sheep in wolfs clothing? The bonnet has the SS scoop but no throttle bodies. That's a bit cheeky in my book TBH! Seems like it's up to the punter to fit afterwards.

Now I could put an Omex throttle body kit on this Works110 easily. But it won't have the variable cam motor. Or the other track bits like panhard rod and front suspension reinforcing arms (again no big deal to fit). But more £££'s.

However the SS has very heavy Minilites. Also I don't like red cars! Yes there are a couple of blue SS's up for sale too.

The Plus Four Works 110 was £65k new when a standard Plus Four then was £45k. So not much really for your 20 bags of sand.

I think only 50 Works were built. Compared to 60 SS's. I don't know if the Works was available in LHD.

The Works has 750 miles vs 10 years old SS.

You need to test drive both. The Supersports is a rare thing. If Kev was here he would drone on incessantly about how good they are.

Oh and I would check out if you can fit throttle bodies to the GDI engine.

Don't forget to try the Cosworth one out keeping it in the Plus 4 area - Henry Williams has a couple in stock at the moment. here he also has a baby blue SS on site for direct comparison..

This car could be the best tuned and thoroughly sorted Plus 4 around I'd definitely try this one out if I were you.

I'm not big on the ARP-4. The motor is too "cammy" for the road and the various aspects finish wise in the interior are too fussy.

It would seem that the GDI motor is not good for throttle bodies.


50 Works 110's vs 60 Supersports.

£50k for a 2011? 39k miles? Far too punchy for me even with the mods. Not big on black or wood dashboards.

Seems no way to put throttle bodies on the GDI motor in the Works 110. The factory would have done it a la ARP or SS.

But I do like the model being the last ladder frame car with a twist...

You could get a slightly older regular 4/4 or +4 then spend the remaining large chunk on whatever poison you want to put under the hood.

As Richard has said, you should consider an ARP4 if you can stretch to the extra £££s on it. I agree they are a little cammy, but certainly not difficult to drive at mundane speeds like some highly tuned engines. It is beautifully mapped, I have to congratulate whoever did it. Additionally it does have all the 'bits' on it, as well as coilover trailing arm, panhard rod rear suspension, rear disc brakes and 4 pot fronts, adjustable shock absorbers, dry sump, double lined hood, as well as a totally unique dash board - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I am of course biased, but after 5 years of ownership I rather like the dual nature of the car and when I want fun and instant 'go', I just keep the revs up a little more in the intermediate gears than in a standard car, it doesn't seem to make much difference to fuel consumption of around 30mpg.
