This thread has got me thinking. Has anyone done something similar with a 4 seater? Anyone got any photos? I currently carry a spare, although it's more of a space saver (165 tyre), as I have 195 and 205 tyres on the car. The positives would be weight reduction (including the car jack) and I could carry a can of spray sealant/ytyre goo. I could also use the 'space' for some tool storage. The downside is that the last two punctures I've had in (albeit both in a tintop, 4 and 15 years ago) were due to sidewall damage which I don't think are easily fixable with a can of goo. I do have an AA card though. Any thoughts? Cheers Phil

Haven't had a puncture in 30+ years....... until this year, and yes in the Mog 300 miles from home. Sorted in 15 minutes. Listen to Graham

I have a Volvo with no spare (because the underfloor area is full of batteries). I've had 2 nasty blowouts - one of which left me with a tyre with a ripped sidewall due to hitting a small lump of rock in the road. Cue lots of grief, hanging around waiting for rescue, expense and inconvenience.
The Roadster has a spare - and it's staying right where it is - on the car. (and yes, I too have Morgan Rescue!)

I've had two punctures in the mog over the last 25 years. Both times goo would have been useless as big tears in tyre. I've been very glad I had the spare with me both times. Nick

Yes, keep the spare. In addition to the sheer peace of mind it gives, it also allows you to fully rotate all the wheels around the car thereby get the best out of all 5. The instructions for the application of the dreaded goo require a certain amount of messing about in that the valve has to be in a certain place and you need to rotate the wheel to spread it about and so on and of course the final insult is that the tyre repair chappie won't repair it.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

Sorry to appear dim, but what exactly is Morgan Rescue, and where do I get it? Frank Hi Franko, it’s a service offered by the Morgan specialist insurers such as Headley, Gott etc for an annual fee the thinking being they will be knowledgeable about the fragility of our cars and treat them gently. I have needed the service twice in seventeen years and they know to turn up with a flatbed truck as you need to disconnect the propshaft to tow one or risk wrecking a gearbox.

Sorry to appear dim, but what exactly is Morgan Rescue, and where do I get it? Frank My Morgan Rescue cover was provided by MMC when I bought my car . Unfortunately I had to use them on numerous occasions ( 7 times I seem to remember !) They were efficient but the people sent to rescue me were the usual nearest available recovery company , none had any special Morgan experience .
