......but the roads hadn't dried out enough......
Yes I learnt about out 3 wheeler handling on my run out. Was on my way to Winchester as mentioned above, and the A31 opened up onto a dual carriageway so off I go only to come upon a damper patch of road on a gentle downhill bend and suffered a bit of understeer which turned into a bit of oversteer. Not huge amounts and no harm done but a lesson learnt to be careful if damp. Didn't put me off going to the new years day Phoenix pub car meet at Phoenuix Green. Another lovely run out and huge numbes of cars to look at on arrival. Brought the A30 to a standstill! Was that the infamous bend as you leave Four Marks ? Many a car ended up in the ditch there. It looks so innocent but everyone is accelerating down the hill and round the bend. Little bit of grease there and off they go. You did well to save it if this is the same place. Nick "Four Marks"....three tire skids and one dirty set of briefs?

  Mind you I have a dilemma today! The sun is currently shining and I have to go to Brighton and back today. Cold (pah) but should remain dry. M3W or Porsche C4S? About as opposite ends of the spectrum as you can get in terms of grip but both would be fun! I went to Odiham and back the other day (about 30 miles in total) and the lack of rear wheel grip was scary! I was approaching home at sensible speeds, 3rd gear and 30 mph and used some more throttle to go up an incline, and the rear wheel spun up! Can only put that down to a really cold tyre on a damp'ish road surface. Will probably SORN the car come the end of the month now.

Do they use grit or sand on your roads, up here our mountain roads are coated in sand which is a nightmare especially for the M3W, had many a brown trouser experience which is why my Mogs hibernate from November to May. Would love to drive the Moggies on the beautiful clear days we have with the 5 feet of snow that is currently on the ground but I also want to remain alive.

In NW Pennsylvania they used salt and dirt.... so you have corrosion AND a muddy vehicle

Salt used here and glad I took the Porsche as I came back in the dark and they were salting the roads which would not have been fun to come across in such an exposed car as the M3W!!!!

Many are using Michelin Cross Climate on the rear - these use a compound that works a bit better at low temperatures even though not a "proper" winter tyre.

I would not want to be out and about on a 9 plus yo tire Oh dear, 2012 Mog, usually low miles, rear tyre is an ar*se to change to folk don't bother 'cos it's got loads of apparent tread Change it, before you arrive at the scene of the accident backwards, the suggestion of 'all season' tyre is good, I swopped the tintop to these recently and they are surprisingly good
