In a pinch we used 3/16" drill bits as the pins. 3 are needed. Put the car in gear with the brake off so as to make things go properly. Two bodies are a great help! Been There and Done That!
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Krazy Horse now have one less. My first annual service at just 850miles and KH found that the cam belt was cracked. A little worrying on a 12 month old M3W. I understand that the S&S wedge engine will not have damage if the cam belt breaks i.e, the valves won`t go through the pistons?? Can anyone confirm this ?? I can understand your concern. It may be worthwhile grabbing a supply of belts while you can. Stay safe

I bought two of those belts on ebay a couple of weeks ago. I joke that I'm going to wear them as a necklace when I drive around.
(S&S needs to step up....just sayin)

On long (eg mainland European) trips, we carry cam belt (& fitting kit), regulator, a fuel pump (now hopefully superfluous with the recommended upgrade to a Wabro one), some spare exhaust nuts and the rubber mounts for exhaust/regulator. Now we have done the wonderful Bleazey mod to the drivetrain, we could also take spare inserts for the centa-coupling.
Not all can be done at the roadside but better than being trailered home if one has the (hard to find but potentially vulnerable) bits required to fit at a friendly local garage as an alternative to a trailer trip home.
