Has anyone taken their Morgan or alternate vehicle from the UK to Morocco. If you have who did you use for car insurance. My +8 insurer, one of the recommended, will not cover. Contemplating a trip with friends in 2024.

I have looked at doing a trip to Morroco in the M3W, but Covid has delayed it. I was doing some planning early in 2020 and at that time Gott & Wynne were able to provide cover, they had to contact the underwriters and it took a long time to get a response, if I remember the premium for two weeks in Morroco was similar to my annual premium.
You can buy insurance at the border, but only the minimum required.

I would also consider accident recovery as part of the requirement, likely to be the same issue. But if you need to use it worth EVERY pennny.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I would also consider accident recovery as part of the requirement, likely to be the same issue. But if you need to use it worth EVERY pennny. Also, make sure it includes repatriation of the vehicle in case it can't be repaired abroad

Ana Maria and I have a complete planning elaborated for a trip in Morocco with the M3Ws. The year would be 2023. Let's revive this old thread, open a couple of years ago! http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthread...d-join-us-for-a-moroccan-trip#Post644497Ana Maria runs a bespoke travel agency ( www.xo-experience.com), and we know Morocco really good. I've personally being there more than 25 times, and Ana María almost a dozen times too. She has sold bespoke trips to Morocco for years now, and has a fantastic local partner who will help us with everything, including solving the insurance issues. The routes/roads are now selected and the hotels too. We just need time to assemble the proposal in a proper way / format. Our plan is to have a closed proposal for this trip this year. We would love to gather a dozen of M3Ws. But obviously the route can be done with any kind of Morgan / car. We know very well the country and all its pros and cons. Based on our vaste experience, our proposal will include having a pick-up truck carrying spares and luggage - to make our M3W lighter - (a friend of us would love to join the trip with his Nissan Navara), a Mercedes V-Class van for any emergency, carrying the staff that will take care of the cars while parked in villages and cities, and/or carry those co-pilots that get tired of the 3-Wheeler or sick. And finally a flat-bed truck capable to load a couple of M3W in case of major breakdown (you don't want to "abandon" your Morgan in a small village in Morocco expecting a towing service to arrive and pick it up as in Europe...). Within the group we'll have expertized M3W mechanics (M3W Services). Resuming: maybe for spring this year we may have the full proposal built up! Keep alert for the news!

Excellent, but who will the insurance be with and what is the coverage, that is the question?
The company would be AXA. We started conversations with them a couple of years ago, when we started building the tour. I have my M3W insured by AXA here in Spain. It's a good international company. And my wife's partner says they're the ones in Morocco to get an insurance for classic-type cars doing tours in Morocco. They've done it before. But we haven't spoke to them for months due to this Covid situation...  In fact, we were supposed to go to Morocco as soon as possible, and check a couple of road sections and hotels. But Morocco closed again its borders before Christmas. This Covid stuff is really massacring all the tourism business!

I have been to Morocco a few times doing Rally Raids.
We have gone the Almeira Nador route - and you can get local insurance inside the port.
You will find the local youths are handy bowlers of rocks - I have had my windscreen smashed by one - they missed my friend and reloaded and got moi, I have seen old ladies lobbing rocks at German registered service vans.
More important is to get good health insurance for yourself & occupants ( hospitals are very basic and private ones are not much better) - remember you import the car into Morocco and can not leave without being with the car - I know a guy that needed to go home and he was knocked back at the airport as he had no vehicle !
Local mechanics are very resourceful and can mend most mechanical items.
