A mono grade oil such as an SAE30 to SAE50. Modern multigrade oils can be too thick which can cause excessive wear.

Have a look at these people.

They do specialist monograde oils from 20 to 50. Maybe give them a call. Always been very helpful if you get through to the tech people.

Penrite based at Bicester would also be a good place to get some advice, they do a range of Classic /Vintage Oils

Completely agree with all of the above - I have run vintage / classic cars and motorcycles for years and would recommend Opie oils for their excellent service and both Morris and Miller lubricants. If it is the original engine the choice is simple, I suggest a monograde SAE 20/30 for winter and SAE 50 for summer.

A word of caution if considering using Opie Oils registration number search facility - the oils they recommend for my Twin Cam are more suitable for a Ford Escort engine & Cortina gearbox and would cause harm to the Fiat gearbox fitted to Twin Cams.
