Richard,
I think you are right it looks good, but they have done it again with the High Level brake light. It’s lost behind the tyre! No need to even put a case on, why oh why didn’t they put two lights one in each top corner of the rear window. Or a nice moulding in the roof above the window.

Obviously the designer doesn’t drive a Morgan

Andy

Andy,

I totally agree with you about the location of the brake light, I wonder if this style was designed around the Plus Six that carries no spare was the only excuse I could think of as it won't help one bit with a rack and case on the rear deck..oh well another Plus Four modification on the way ??

ps I haven't seen a hardtop on a Plus Six so I don't know whether the light location is shared.

I had assumed, wrongly, that the Plus Four Hardtop would be the same as that on the two CX race cars. On closer inspection there are substantial differences including the brake light, the shape of the moulding on the bottom corners by the doors & not unexpectedly the door seals.
The other photos I have seen of a road car with no spare wheel had no 3rd brake light at all.

Interesting, it did say in the advert that this was the first production Plus Four with hardtop fitted so maybe they started again after the race cars.

The race cars have a Plus Six hardtop sliced up and refettled by the students from Wolverhampton University

That's a great idea getting the upcoming localish talent involved.
If I remember correctly they were involved in the charity race a while back.

You would have thought that the door apertures, windscreen & rear fixings would all be the same with just a 4" strip of material removed from the centre line of the Plus Six roof to make it fit a Plus Four.
Ive not seen any reports anywhere as to how people are getting on with the plus six roof, would be interesting to know if it makes much difference Leak & noise wise.

Morgan has a unique position in the market, it’s the last true roadster that is available.
There are convertibles by the bucket load, there is no need for another one.
I fear that, with ever increasing expectations, Morgans could loose what makes them unique in the first place. And that is not the quality of the hood.
Morgan has a proven track record of over 7 decades of leaking roofs. This has never been high on their priority list. Every potential buyer should be aware of that before he/she makes his/her choice.

Sure there are improvements possible but you can see by the discussions about the shoulder room with the newer hood that you always pay the price, each advantage carries its disadvantage with it. Even if that is only the size of the folded roof. Have a look at the roofs of the Aero's I to V.

And we all have our normal cars, even watertight tin tops, already at home.

Let’s keep Morgan unique by giving them some room for imperfections and clear priorities on pure open top fun. By average expectations and as a car, Morgans have been horrible for most of their being. That is why they survived. Lets celebrate that.
But just to be clear, I fully respect every other opinion on that, just my thoughts.

Regards,
Markus

I really dont know how you can claim "poor English skills" after writing that post. Far more lucid and clear than many British people could write. Admirable.

Did a 160 mile round trip to Krazy Horse yesterday for a factory recall on the front suspension. Almost the whole trip on the A14 and it was quite cold and windy so I had the roof up. By crikey it was noisy and mine is a MY22 which supposedly has the quiet hood. Certainly not the case with mine. The drafts come in everywhere around the sidescreen seals and the gales at the back of the sidescreens are horrendous.

How are others getting along with this hood?

Best regards,

John
