Just to correct my post. The Brough in Pendine is a
Brough Superior Pendine model.
Named because of the bike racing on the beach.
There has been talk of getting bikes back there but it has gone quiet fora while.

Please excuse the drift Peter.

Yes these races at Ouistreham, Normandy include everything pre 1947 and is a big gathering, I could be tempted to a visit there as we have friends in the area.

Closer to home .... Race The Waves at Bridlington .... there's a couple of galleries here for previous years that give a feel for the event .... my nephew attends (not sure if he competes but wouldn't be surprised) .... quite fancy a go at that.

During one of my racing trips down south I visited Pendine during the week touring about between the race weekends ... was disappointed to find that Babs wasn't there .... seems it alternates between two locations (not sure why but think the Brooklands Museum as the other one rings a faint bell) ... worth checking before making the trip so as to be sure of seeing it. Still worth a look in if you're passing and the beach is good for a walk.

John has confirmed the number of 'around' 1000 left now. Apparently in the '60s a number of M3W owners were scrapping the bikes and using the engines. However, since 'the market' has decided that they are extremely valuable (only takes a couple of idiots with more money that sense) most of these Morgans have been scrapped and the engines put back into bikes.

John knocks around on this bike, as he said in the vid his Dad (who was a Brough fan when they were cheap as chips) dug it out of an allotment and they rebuilt it.

Bumping up an old thread .... found this pic on a FB site this morning.

George Brough himself after doing 130.6 MPH on the Works 'scrapper'

[Linked Image]

I love these old pics .... just so atmospheric and 'real' ..... not sure what the thinking was with the baggy leathers of the period but I reckon a modern fitting set would have been good for a couple more MPH.
