At the current bid of US$ 5,000.00, there's has got to be some value here 1968 MG MGB GTI think this auction commentary just about sums it up... MattKells Obvious attempt to “blend” color on fenders, door and driver’s rear panel , is a major problem on this car. Coupled w the admitted gearbox problem etc; it’s not the best example. Having totally restored two MGB GTs myself; I can totally agree w “austinhealer” as to the costs and need for: high build epoxy, hand sanding, guide coat (usually at least twice) then prep for paint; a labor intensive process. I used a two stage paint process and Deltron Clear ( at $ 550.00 per gallon w/o reducer, etc !). As a wise friend once remarked: “it takes as much time, money and energy to paint a $ 10 K car as a $ 80 K E -Type !” On the other had; why not just drive this as is ? They are a blast to drive ! Drove mine last at one of the Breakfast Club’s Rallys; stayed in third gear thru all the twisties; drove home in 4th Overdrive averaging 32 mi per gallon ! What better vintage bang for the buck could you ask for ? Cosmetic perfection is overrated; mechanical superiority is more important.
