The video clips we've seen of the 3W show lazy (slow and sans traffic) country road motoring and parking lot antics.

But, now that people are starting to get hands-on time with the 3W...

How fast (highest speed) have you driven one?
How confidently did it behave at speed?
How far could you imagine traveling in one, based on comfort alone, i.e., not considering luggage.

Here in Southern California, freeways are a daily unavoidable way of life. Speeds commonly vary between 65 and 80+ MPH. Could the 3W handle such speed with dignity, and more importantly... could the driver handle it? (Driver dignity optional.)

I often drive between San Diego and Los Angeles (100 miles), and love longer road trips. Charles Morgan once hoped for reports of long-distance travel in the 3W, I believe. Does that seem feasible (after you drove one), or was that simply a blue-skies wish by Mr. Morgan?

Finally, a nagging question... did the production 3W seems sturdy and well made, or flimsy and easily breakable?

I was lucky enough to get a run out in the 3 wheeler at Silverstone some months back ( although I wasn't driving ) the sorts of speeds you are talking about are certainly not beyond the limits of the 3 wheeler. In terms of distance highway driving that will be a lot more difficult to judge and my guess is that with the wind in your face the driver will be suffering long before the car is.

As winters starting to settle in over here it might be a few months before anyone can report back on any long distance runs

Last time I drove in California the speed limit was 50 mph (oil crisis) and at 70-80 mph in the hire car I was the fastest thing on the road.

I'm pleased to hear that the speed limits are now at a reasonable level.

I got pulled for doing 72 on the road between Portland, Or and Mt. Hood back in '81 or '82. Car wouldn't do more than 67 or 8 on the speedo. Officer looked at my license, turned it over a couple of times and said "Gee, is that an English driver's license?". When I answered in the affirmative he carefully explained about the double nickel and sent us on our way
In later years I've done the trek across the Gulf States from Beaumont /Port Arthur to Ft. Walton Beach - mostly at the higher limit of 65and found I'm one of the slowest out on the road

The speed limit in Italy on the Autostrada is a sensible 130 kph (80 mph) but often we cruise at 150 kph (93 mph) depending on conditions.

Unfortunately the "virus" of speed cameras is starting to spread in Italy too.

Charles Morgan said at the +4 event in Prescott that he drove one to and from London on the M4 with no issue to hit the limit.

Good pick of roads! I should just avoid all the places I need to go, and concentrate on the places I'd rather be.
