I've had my first Morgan - a Mk1 Roadster - for two years now and love it. However, I have a question for the esteemed members of this forum. If I wanted a bit more power-on-demand i.e. I'm tooling along normally, I'm in 4th gear and I put my foot on the floor - what modification would make the car feel a little more lively?
1. Bluechip - only seems to work at high revs so that's out.
2. Supercharger - I installed one on my Landrover v8 in 1989 and it's still going strong. Is there one for the V6?
3. Trade-in to a Plus 8... but would the heavy steering drive me crazy and front-end weight.. (I've never driven one..)
6. Buy a new 3.7 V6 - expensive, depreciation on a new car etc..
Thoughts?

Mk1 can be bleuchipped incl some hardware to 280hp

Is there room for blower?

Don't think there will be a great deal of difference with a +8.

Mogs don't suffer with depreciation the way just about everything else motoring related (as in modern motors) do.

A couple of years ago the factory were trialing a supercharger in the Mk 11 Roadster. This forum reported that during testing at a venue in the USA it failed in some way. So the supercharger option sounds like it could have reliability issues for the 3 litre engines.
About the same time Richard Thorne dealership were offering a power upgrade on the Mk 1 Roadster, involved manifold work, cams, ECU etc. I discussed it with them and the cost was 3K plus VAT and fitting for about 275 Bhp. They have just sold a grey Roadster with this option fitted. Might be worth a call to see if the modification is still available.
I have a Mk 1 with the bluefin fitted and sports exhaust but the difference is slight and as you say probably all at the top end.

Wait for the 3.7 and spec it to your liking.

Would a pair of Dave's New Pilotis get the throttle moving quicker?
Or would it just be cheaper to slip into Third Gear?

Frank I think you'r spot on, a pair of Pilotis will make all the difference !!

As for the Pilotis - (they look horrible) - I have some ancient Geox narrow shoes with holes in the soles "The Shoes that Breathe" - they are pretty good as long as you don't get too close.. with wider shoes I seem to brake a bit too often..

Thanks for the answers - I like the idea of the 3.7 but I hate the dark instrument dashboard - love my cream dials- so I'll stay happy with what I have and change down more often.

So horrible in fact that I've just ordered another pair (while stocks last)...........

On the original point. The Roadster needs to be revved to get the step up in performance from 4000revs, so changing down is great advice.
