I have had problems with my fuel gauge not reading the correct amount in the tank. At first I thought it might have been the sender in the tank not working, due to the tank being empty for 2 and half years. But after putting a volt reader it was decided that the problem was the electrical regulator behind the dashboard. Alas having changed the regulator the fuel is reading correct but the Coolant temperature gauge is now reading very high.
The Coolant is Evans waterless. I'm scratching my head on the as the regulator controls both gauges.
Has anyone in TM world got any ideas to fix this. I have tried changing the connections at the back of the water gauge with no change.
As normal any help in the matter is greatly appreciated.

Could it be that the the regulator change that sorted the the fuel gauge has now also"sorted the temperature gauge and in fact that is the correct reading.
Waterless coolant can make some systems run hotter if they were marginal in the first place.
What is the gauge reading and have you checked it by putting the sensor in just boiled water. Maybe the gauge is correct.
Could be you have a cooling problem rather than a gauge problem.

What is the gauge reading and have you checked it by putting the sensor in just boiled water.
Having trashed a new sensor by doing just that, it seems thermal shock can have a negative effect (as the chap told me when I complained..). The best way is to pop it in water at room temperature and heat gently..

Check the earth connection to the gauge

As normal any help in the matter is greatly appreciated. You don't mention what voltage is/was provided to instruments Dave. Should be 10 volts WRT instrument ground. Sensor grounding is most important as well particularly in the case of fuel gauge circuit. Recommend solid state regulator BTW.

You don't mention what voltage is/was provided to instruments Dave. Should be 10 volts WRT instrument ground. Sensor grounding is most important as well particularly in the case of fuel gauge circuit. Recommend solid state regulator BTW. I've used one - made my fuel and temp gauges far more accurate.
