Can you imagine writing up a modern Risk Assessment to get that past the Health & Safety Officer nowadays

Elf`nsafety.... boy did I suffer a great deal of frustration with that up to retirement. I ever regarded it as paper handcuffs inhibiting me from getting on with the task in hand..

When I first joined this band of merry Morganeers I tried to post an add, as I was in the long drawn out process of clearing out my garage of hoards of "stuff" I had gathered over the years, and part of that was a pair of original 50`s ALL-FIN brake drums from a 1955 TR2 which I had bought to restore but never got round to before it converted to All-Bran under a tarp. I gave them to a friend who likes to dabble a bit, along with a genuine Morgan/TR engine block, spare heads and all sorts of instruments I had gathered over the years... I think most of it ended up being scrapped... As I suspect much of the Baby Boomers automotive hoarding may well be given following generations on average, seem to have less and less interest in our junk..?

I think the e-generation want to do everything on their phones. That's OK until the system fails, and they will be lost.

On the bright side there are still younger people who delight in using machine tools. My son in law is one such, who refurbs old machines (as a hobby), and has a shed full of machine tools. He frequents a forum where they chat about just this. He recently broke a collar casting, like a big cast exhaust clamp. One of the forumites not only repaired it free of charge, but also took pictures along the way. His brazing skills are quite amazing.

The thing is, you can't always judge the size of things on line, and when an air cylinder arrived one day, we had such fun carting that down the garden. It was absolutely huge.

DaveW as is our right we can grumble as much as we like about the young along the lines of the quote below this paragraph..? However we are fortunate that there will ever be youngsters who are into old tec, and who may still be able to survive if/when the lights go out....a bit like cockroaches..

I’ve got a brand new pair of 240Z rear Alfin brake drums that I bought in the States to easily modify and fit on my Plus 8 but never got round to it before I sold the car. I’ll put them up for sale in the correct for sale section.
